leaders and representatives of all nine political parties on friday attended a lunch meeting to discuss national reconciliation at the invitation of matubhum leader sonthi boonyaratkalin, reports said.

gen sonthi, chairman of the parliamentary reconciliation committee, invited all party leaders to discuss ways to bring about reconciliation.

key politicians attending the lunch meeting included leader of the democrats abhisit vejjajiva, bhumjaithai leader chavarat chanveerakul, rak santi leader purachai piumsomboon, pheu thai leader yongyuth wichaidit, chartthaipattana leader chumpol silpa-archa, rak prathet thai leader chuwit kamolvisit, chartpattana leader wannarat channukul, representative of palang chon sansak charoonngapichet and a representative of chartpattana pueu pandin prasert bunchaisuk.

before the discussion started, reporters were asked to leave the meeting room, according to the reports.

the lunch meeting of all nine political parties to discuss national unity held by the national reconciliation committee chairman is most welcome, army chief prayuth chan-ocha said on friday.

gen prayuth said he would await the outcome of the meeting.

as a unit of the government, the army will wait for the final decisions of the political branch, he added,

“i have repeatedly said that there are three powers in the country - the administration, the legislative section and the justice system. all sides, including the armed forces, must join hands to move the country forward.

“all thai people want national reconciliation as soon as possible. we must all rapidly ensure unity to bring peace and security to the country," gen prayuth said.

ptt and bangchak petroleum on saturday morning will increase pump prices by 0.50 baht a litre for all fuels except gasohol e85, which will rise by 0.30 baht.

the retail prices at outlets of ptt and bangchak in bangkok and nearby provinces will be 39.24 baht a litre for petrol 91, 37.96 baht for gasohol 95, 36.21 baht for gasohol 91, 35.21 for gasohol e20 and 22.31 baht for gasohol e85.

the price of diesel will be 31.33 baht per litre.
