Car exports down for December

car exports for december 2011 totaled 35,046 units, down 50.66 per cent on december 2010, surapong paisitpattanapong, spokesman of automotive industry club said on wednesday.
car export value over the month was 17.05 billion baht, down 42.93 per cent from december 2010, mr surapong said.
in 2011, a total of 735,627 cars were exported, down 17.89 per cent on 2010, while car export value totaled 343.38 billion baht, a decline of 15.14 per cent, he said.
mr surapong said vehicle output in december 2011 was down 27.64 per cent on december 2010, but up 319.61 per cent on november, to 99,426 units.
domestic car sales in december 2011 totaled 54,575 units, an increase of 109 per cent on november but down 41.40 per cent on december 2010.
“car sale volume was up because almost all car makers affected by the great flood have been able to resume production and delivered ordered cars to clients,” he said.

UPDATE: 1 killed by Pattani car bomb

one person was killed and eight others injured when a bomb hidden inside a car parked in front of pattani provincial public health office exploded on thursday morning, reports said.
the explosion took place about 8.07am, according to the reports.
the injured victims, one in critical condition, were taken to pattani hospital.
part of the provincial public health office building at least ten cars were damaged in the explosion.
police were inspecting the incident scene.

Flash floods hit Songkhla

flash floods triggered by continuing heavy rain fall since saturday morning have inundated eight districts of songkhla province, reports said.
the districts are muang, sadao, chana, hat yai, nathawee, na mom, saba yoi and khlong hoi khong, according to the reports.
state authorities were deployed in flood hit areas to survey flood damages and to provide emergency assistance to the flood affected people, the reports said.
it was reported that kanchanavanich road linking between hat yai and sadao, a border district to malaysia, is now under floodwater and impassable for small cars.
hat yai municipality had changed its warning flag from green colour to yellow, warning people to 24-hour prepare for evacuation.
