thailandโs political scene will still be chaotic in the year 2012, a key bhumjaithai party figure says.
somsak thepsuthin on monday predicted that politics would goes through further difficulties because both the government and opposition would continue to create conditions to aid their own political causes.
these included, for instance, the amendment of the defence ministry administration act, the push for an amnesty bill to pave the way for the return of former premier thaksin shinawatra, and the return of an ordinary passport to him, which had already been done.
he said the government and the opposition were competing vengefully and emotionally, instead of rationally.
mr somsak warned violence could flare up again if the government is determined to press ahead with its controversial agendas, especially the drive to amend the defence act, which will only increase the political temperature.
the amendment of the defence act, which many view as a sensitive issue, would give the government greater influence over the reshuffling of senior military officers.
