thai stocks opened up 5.73 points at the start of trade monday morning.

the stock exchange of thailand (set) main index opened at 1,104.68 points, up 0.52 per cent from friday’s close. the trade value was 1.20 billion baht.

the set50 index gained 4.41 points, or 0.57 per cent, to stay at 773.37 points, with a total turnover of 830.27 million baht.

the set100 index opened at 1,681.46 points, up 9.47 points, or 0.57 per cent, with a total trade value of 959.46 million baht.

the sethd index rose 6.36 points, up 0.59 per cent, to stand at 1,079.49 points, with a total trade value of 338.55 million baht.

the market for alternative investment (mai or mai) index opened up 0.58 point, or 0.20 per cent, to stand at 290.34 points, with total transaction value of 25.09 million baht.

the top five most active shares:

banpu stood at 620.00 baht, up 8.00 or 1.31 per cent.

ivl stood at 33.00 baht, up 0.50 or 1.54 per cent.

ptt stood at 344.00 baht, up 1.00 or 0.29 per cent.

sst stood at 19.30 baht, up 0.70 or 3.76 per cent.

dtac stood at 70.50 baht, up 0.75 or 1.08 per cent.

a total of 314 people were killed and 3,116 injured in road accidents during the first six of the seven dangerous days over the new year, the disaster relief and mitigation department announced on wednesday.

the department said there were altogether 2,856 road accidents throughout the country from dec 29 to jan 3, killing 314 people and injuring 3,116.

compared to the same period last year, there were 371 fewer accidents, 11 fewer deaths (3.38 per cent), and 337 fewer injuries (9.76 per cent).

provinces with most accidents are nakhon sawan (104), chiang rai (103), and chiang mai (87).

provinces with most fatalities are buri ram (18), nakhon sawan (17), and chiang rai, nakhon ratchasima and bangkok (11 each).

ten provinces with no deaths from road accidents are satun, nonthaburi, nong khai, udon thani, si sa ket, yala, trat, sukhothai, tak and pattani.

วันนี้ (4 ม.ค.) ที่ศูนย์อำนวยการป้องกันและลดอุบัติเหตุทางถนนในช่วงเทศกาลปีใหม่ 2555 กรมป้องกันและบรรเทาสาธารณภัย (ศปถ.) พล.ต.ท.บริหาร เสี่ยงอารมณ์ ผู้ช่วยผู้บัญชาการตำรวจแห่งชาติ แถลงผลการรณรงค์ลดอุบัติเหตุทางถนน ช่วงเทศกาลปีใหม่ 2555 โดยศูนย์อำนวยการป้องกันและลดอุบัติเหตุทางถนน (ศปถ.) ระหว่างวันที่ 29 ธันวาคม 2554 - 3 มกราคม 2555 ของวันที่ 6 ช่วง 7 วันอันตราย มีอุบัติเหตุเกิดขึ้นแล้ว รวม 2,856 ครั้ง ลดลงจากปีที่แล้ว 371 ครั้ง มีผู้บาดเจ็บ 3,116 คน ลดลงจากปีที่แล้ว 337 คน เสียชีวิตรวม 314 คน ลดลงจากปีที่แล้ว 11 คน
